rantingraving151.jpg Happy fricken’ Valentines Day.

Let me tell you, this has not been a very pleasant day.

Long story short; woke up late, sick kids, very busy at work, some shoplifter tried to use me as a decoy at Wal-Mart while he was committing his crime, witnessed the take down of said scum by Wal-Mart security in parking lot - much to my pleasure I might add (I just wish they could have roughed him up a bit though – I wouldn’t have said a thing), I get home late but still before my wife, my daughter is still sick while my son seems to be OK, eat left-overs, start feeling sick myself and lay down, wake up later and realize I forgot to record The Duels and then realize I still feel sick, worse actually, find The Duels on Speed and watch them in a semi-conscious feverish state on the couch – in between frequent trips to the bathroom that is (when did Jr’s car turn white and green? And worse yet, I must of been seeing double as I could have sworn there were two 8′ on the side of his car - isn’t that Jarrett? Damn fever has me hallucinating), wife goes to bed leaving me to die on the couch (what happened to “in sickness and health”?), finally finish The Duels and crawl upstairs to try and write something about them here. I’m feeling a little better, so I’ll try to get all of my thoughts down before I have some sort of relapse into hell. I really do feel like the right front of Patrick Carpentier’s car right now.

The Duels – My Thoughts

- Jr had a car. Now we can get rid of the theory that Jimmie and Jeff were under orders to let Jr win in the Shootout as Jr proved he can do it all by himself – sort of.

- Speaking of Carpentier, that was a bad break. I really thought he’d be in the show.

- The CoT works great and allows the drivers to drive like they did 20 years ago with more emphasis on the driver’s ability and less on the car.

- Toyota gets its first win in Cup. It’s not a point race, but let’s face it; it is just a matter of time now. Toyota has a legitimate shot at winning the 500 on Sunday. Congratulation’s to Denny Hamlin on getting Toyota its first win.

- Tony Stewart really is a team player.

- So much for those engine problems that the Hendrick cars had. All you doom and gloom prophets can go back under your rocks.

- Boris Said needs to switch to Toyota and align himself with JGR instead of Rousch/Fenway. Maybe he could even go with some sort of Hendrick deal. I feel for the man, I really do. Sorry Boris.

- Jacques, why did you turn right? Why? All you had to do was lock it down. That rookie mistake that everyone expected at Talladega finally happened I guess.

- Stremme looked good; I just might have to reconsider my NASCAR Pool picks.
After watching Michael Waltrip working Dale Jarrett’s rear bumper I’m starting to hate teammate racing.

- Speaking of teammates, did you see where Jeff Gordon finished? And he did it without the help of his teammates. My prediction is that Jeff will be a factor on Sunday.

- As bad as feel for Boris I feel equally as good about John Andretti making the race. I don’t care what any says, Andretti is a nice guy and a good driver. Not only does he deserve to be in the 500 but he deserves a better ride too.

OK, enough for now. I’m going to crawl back to my little cave, lie in the fetal position, and pray that what ever I have doesn’t get worse.

Tomorrow, if I’m feeling up to it, I will go over my list of who I think will make The Chase. Take Care.
