I am not quite awake yet, so please forgive me for any mis-spellings and/or unexplained jargon. The fact is I am plum wore out after yesterday’s Daytona day.

In a word…. pheonomenal!! We hit it on the right day with Bud Shootout practice going on and the infield crowd was minimal giving us the opportunity to get upclose with many drivers. PJ got so many autographs that I lost count. We also got very close and personal with the Speed guys and Jeff Hammond nearly took PJ away from me!!

Aside from all that… what an incredible place!! The infield pass yesterday was only $15, but it was worth 10 times that. I was pratically inside the garage area and was standing so close to the pack running in draft at 190+ that I got hit in the face with flying dust. My camera got a workout and I will post some photos later next week.

The old cliche’… “watch out for Greeks bearing gifts”… has an element of truth to it, but no way in the negative as George Vroom V. proved. We had the most pleasant meeting and George is a pure gentleman. Not only did he insisit on paying for breakfast, during our parking lot departure he presented us with gift certificates to a wonderful Bistro and shocked me even more when he handed me a Dale Jr. 1/32nd scale diecast. Not just any diecast, but the final paint scheme of 07′ in the CoT Elvis Limited Edition. He said it was an extra one he had lying around. The level of gratitude I felt never fully hit me until PJ and I were on I-4 West heading for Daytona. What a great guy George is!!!

George, there will be snowballs arriving in your mailbox for your little lugnuts in the very near future!!

What a grand idea….we all somehow plan a bloggers convention…. well, it’s a nice thought and after meeting my friend George yesterday I can read his blog with a smile knowing the man behind the keyboard.
