Blowout
Originally uploaded by Racefan57

No..not a tire blowout!! That’s a photography term. Bright whiteout’s…but I did this on purpose. It was -10 f and that is steam coming off the river with the sun behind the tree. Made for an interesting shot.

Racing season is almost upon us. What…5 weeks or so.

My step-son is working the NASCAR Bobsled challenge this weekend. He’s a National Guardsman and our local boys are in Lake Placid to assist with the event. He called us today from his cell and Geoff and Todd Bodine were standing right next to him. Then he told Boris Said that I am a Said Head…. Boris apparently belly laughed. Oh and by the way..I like Boris but I can’t do the wig thing! Pattyjo did not believe Adam..so he got the Bodine’s to say “Yup..it’s us, father & son”. He got photos and autographs…I hope!! We could have attended but we have a house full of kids this weekend. At least one member of our family is part of it..but the one least interested in NASCAR. Go figure!!

It’s a cold winter up here. The gas bill is scary! I might have to frame and sell some of my photos!

Adios amigos.

I know, I know, I promised part 4 in my series of “What NASCAR Needs To Fix”, but being a hockey fan I must write about what has happened in the last week.

Today Canada won a thriller in overtime over Sweden to claim their 4th consecutive Gold Medal at the World Jr Hockey Championships. Way to go boys, we’re all proud of you. Not only that, but Canada has only lost 1 game in the last 24 games played at the World Juniors - that means they have only lost one game since 2004. Whoa, I bet even Rick Hendrick is envious of this winning streak.

Not to be outdone Team Ontario defeated Team USA to win the World Under-17 Championship this week too. Again, way to go boys, we’re all proud of you.

Finally, last week the Canadian Men’s Team skated to a 2-1 win over the Russian club Salavat Yulaev Ufa to win the Spengler Cup. Wow, way to go guys, we’re all proud of you.

The Women’s World Championships happen later this month, let’s see if we can make 4 Golds in a month. Bring it home girls, we’re cheering for you.

You know, this is sort of a prelude to my next post. I promise this post will lead to NASCAR and part 4 in my series. Bear with me, when you read what I have to say you’ll get a very clear picture about how all this ties in. Trust me …

So I won’t be posting Part 4 tonight - look for it tomorrow. I took my nephew and son to an AHL game tonight, after we went skating at the local rink for 2hrs. My plan was to get them a little tired so they would sit through the game. My plan worked until about the last 10 min. of the 3rd period. Oh well, such is life.

The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs def. the Grand Rapids Gryphons, in case you were wondering.

It was my nephew’s first pro-hockey game - man was he pumped!

Take Care.
