Man this week has just flown by. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween yesterday, my kids had a blast - to quote my son, “This Halloween was the best ever!”

I would agree, it was.

I’ve also been really busy at work. As some of you know, I do a lot of coaching with the students that I work with and we are at the peak of volleyball season right now . I usually coach the Senior Girl’s Team, but since our Senior Boy’s Team coach has become ill, I’ve been coaching both the Boys and Girls teams - both teams are currently sitting at 3 and 1. Not bad, but they should both be at 4 - 0. The Girls lost a heart breaker Tuesday with a hugely unpopular call by the linesman (even the Home Team’s fans couldn’t believe the call), and the Boys just lost to a team tonight that was slightly less skilled than us, but still beat us none-the-less because we mentally took ourselves out of the game by making a few stupid mistakes early and not really letting them go by focusing on the next point and not on the one we just lost. Boys at this age are a lot more difficult to coach let me tell you - they may be more skilled than the girls, but the girls have much smaller egos and are able to let the mistakes go and not dwell on them making them better team players. Boys don’t master that skill until High School I find. Wish me luck, I have to coach the Girls tomorrow.

Anyway, my life has been about Halloween and Volleyball this week and that is why I haven’t been posting at my regular pace - sorry - good thing not much in has happened this week in NASCAR.

One thing I want out point out though is what is happening over at Bill Davis racing. First we hear that Jacques Villeneuve’s manager, Craig Pollock, is set to buy out Bill Davis Racing.

“I’m interested in having an active participation in a NASCAR team, preferably the one where Jacques drives,” said Pollock. “It’s the best way to make sure that my driver has access to the best equipment available.”

“Every scenario has been examined, and this, with a lot of teams. We talked about partial buyouts, complete buyouts, set up of a new independent team, and multiple opportunities for a satellite team that would benefit from the expertise of an existing team.

“We talked to Roush, Evernham, Childress and, of course, Bill Davis.”

And now we hear that Bill Davis Trucking has filed for bankruptcy protection. “This has been a very unfortunate chain of events and Gail and I certainly hate that it ever had to happen,” Bill Davis said in a prepared team statement. “Bill Davis Trucking and Bill Davis Racing are two completely separate entities, and the race team will in no way be affected by today’s announcement.” In which the bankruptcy filing “was necessitated by an injury accident and an ensuing lawsuit against the [trucking] company.”

OK, I can see that these are still two separate business entities and all, but I’m sorry, this will have an effect on each other and the way I see it is that Bill Davis may not quite give up all of BDR. I think Pollock may be close in getting more than 50% of the team, but I don’t think he’ll get all of it just yet.

Certainly, if Pollock is involved Villeneuve probably won’t be going anywhere for a while, Pollock did own (at least in some capacity) British American Racing (BAR) in F1 and put Villeneuve in the car as his driver.

We should watch this story develop over the next week or so and see what happens.

Watching Trackside on Speed last night brought several smiles to my face and even a couple of outbursts of laughter. Poor Larry Mac!! Yet he just flows with all the abuse he gets from J. Hammond, E. Sadler and S. Byrnes, but how can they not slaughter Larry Mac?! He had the Texas 20 gallon hat from hell on, or as guest Jeff Burton said… he got it from a “Toy Story” costume shop… Toy Story Costume Woody. Jeff Hammond didn’t look much better… he’s got a new Garth Brooks theme going on… See full-size image. Not that Garth is bad looking, it’s just unbecoming for Jeff. Check out the pic of Garth and if you saw Speed last night you’ll get a chuckle.

Mike Skinner and Ron Hornaday continue their exchange of points leader for the NCTS Championship. Skinner, also a guest on Speed last night, has opened up the lead to over 50 points and he has qualified 14th for tomorrows Cup race. These guys have done this “Teeter-Tottering” in the past. Kudos to Ted Musgrave for the big Texas win, but only after several crashes that ultimately gave Ted a victory under a “Green-White Checker”.

It’s all but official, yet sources have indeed confirmed that Bruton Smith has aquired NHIS. I found an interesting article in The Boston Globe, Sources: Bahre agrees to sell NHIS that at least gave the battle between my mind and my heart a bit of hope. Smith is good for the sport in so many ways, yet his power is frightening. He has bought himself a gem and us Nor’Easterner’s can only pray he treats her with all the respect and TLC she deserves.

Texas weather is great this time of year!!
