On Wed. Sept 19th to be exact . The announcement will take place in Dallas and Dale will be announcing what his primary sponsor and car number are for next year’s Sprint Cup.

So what do you think his number and sponsor will be? David Poole tried to get the scoop on the number thing by checking recently filed trademarks made by Rick Hendrick and found that he had filed trademarks for the numbers 80, 81, 82, 85, 86, 87, 89, 08, and 38 - I also heard, but as of yet confirmed, that a trademark has been filed for the number 88 as well.

So I think the number selection has been narrowed down a bit, heh. In any event it appears that the new number will definitely have an 8 in it. My vote? 08, 80, 38, 88 in that order.

Sponsor? A lot of people are still saying Mountain Dew or AMP ( a Mtn Dew variant I believe). I even had some one email me weeks ago claiming they had ‘inside’ info that it is AMP - but they wouldn’t give me any hint of who that source might be. I still think that Pepsi should be the primary sponsor while running special one race deals (with special paint jobs to get the merchandising sales) with other Pepsi products on the car like Mountain Dew.

Anyway, let me hear what you have to say. Let’s keep the debate going at least until Monday.

The Busch brothers anxiously awaiting and anticipating the Chase for the Cup.
Actually these are Fennec Foxes, but when I came across this pic I immediately thought of the Busch boys, only these little guys are much cuter!!
Gotta hand it to Kurt for his surge in the last 1/2 dozen races or so. Pat Tryson’s presence in the garage has made all the difference. If only these guys were more likable… well Kurt is at least grown up abit and Kyle… well time will tell. Nonetheless, they are both amongst the best in the world and the Cup is within reach of either one.

Pattyjo and I will be on our way east and slightly south tomorrow afternoon. She doesn’t know it yet, because I told her we were leaving at 4:00 am Sunday morning. Next week Wednesday, the 22nd, is our wedding anniversary. So unless she reads this first, which is likely, she’ll be surprised when I tell her we are spending the night in some countryside motel somewhere in the Green Mountains of Vermont half way between home and NHIS. I’ll take us to dinner and and enjoy some time together as all I seem to do is work and go to bed at 8:00… which reminds me, it’s nearly 7:00 am and I have to hit the grindstone once again.
