I have to give credit to George at Vroom for giving me food for thought. His post today touched on what we need is a “Feel Good” race by having someone like Bobby Labonte win. It got me thinking about how it feels when an Underdog wins, like when Jamie Mac won by inches over Kyle Busch. Of course the likelihood of that is minimal at best, it is a nice thought. I also want to give George a Kudos for reminding me what year I was born… ‘57… and help me make up my mind which ‘07 #8 diecast I will add to my collection. It will be the ‘57 paint scheme they are running this week, but I think I will also add the traditional red Bud car… probably the CoT.

Terry Blount of ESPN NASCAR wrote a very slammin’ article about the #8 Blount: Get over it, 8 lovers. He certainly tells it like it is.

With Jeffy Boy on the pole, I hope The Biff runs it up the #24’s tailpipe!!

Just got back to the hotel from being at the track all day. I’ve got lots of pictures, but no way to upload them from here so I’ll do that when I get home.

We got to the track just as Cup practice was going on, nothing eventful to report there. We then walked around for cruising the various souvenir trailers and such. Everything that was Dale Jr (except Elvis, 57 Chev, and Die-cast) was 50% off, so I got two shirts for my kids and a hat for me for just $18.00.

The Busch race today was kind of boring. The field got really strung out after the last caution and it turned into a bit of a fuel battle in the end. Mark Martin ran out of gas as he was crossing the start/finish line for the last lap and blew a top 5 finish. Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth ran strong for the lead during the race but after the last round of pit stops Denny just ran away from the field. Going into turn 3 on the last lap Denny came over the radio and said that he ran out of gas to which the reply (after a bit of a pause) was “Tell me you’re kidding”.

Smash Mouth performed after the race tonight too. It was a good concert, considering it rained on and off during it. More of a light drizzle, but still rain. I hope it either pours tonight or holds off until the race is complete tomorrow, I don’t want to have to stay another night - I can’t afford it.

More tomorrow, I’m going to bed as I think I’m going to have a long day tomorrow.

PS - Jr reported that his car was loose during Happy Hour and was reluctant to do any changes as it might make the car too tight for tomorrow.

Also, don’t forget to enter the Kodak Contest, You only have 24 hrs left. Scroll down to find the link, as this Internet connection is way too slow for me to agonize over putting up links.
