Racing in all its forms is a thrilling experience. It gets the fans pumped and obviously the drivers as well. This is especially true when you think about NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) racing. The speed and timing make a half second a massive divergence between winning and losing.

So if I mention that a particular driver lost by 7 seconds you might be surprised. If I then tell you that this driver is a 3 time champion and the current leader in points, I’m sure you would be even more shocked. But that’s exactly what happened. Mr. Greg Anderson, of KB Racing, and former NHRA POWERade champion but not for the reason you might imagine.

It wasn’t an engine malfunction or other issue with the car. It was as simple as not getting the staging lights lit in time. Just that simple. He missed the time and was disqualified. A blustered Anderson stated,

“I don’t understand what they’re telling me rule is and I don’t believe that any driver out here believes that is the way they’re telling me the rule is.”

While the loss hurt, the good news is that Anderson and his Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO will continue in the Countdown to Eight trying to get to the championship. Still you know that the next race, he will have those lights lit as fast as his GTO gets down the track.
